The fifth meeting of the Steering Committee (SC) for the European Union project ”EU for Vocational Education and Recognition of Skills in BiH” was held via the Zoom platform on December 16, 2024.

After adopting the proposed agenda, the minutes from the previous Fourth Steering Committee meeting were also approved, with a directive for the project team to incorporate the comments and corrections raised by SC members during the discussion into the final version.

Additionally, the Second Progress Report was approved at the meeting. The SC members recognized that despite initial delays, the project has since made notable progress, with the Riga Conclusions successfully integrated into its strategy. The project team committed to including technical comments and suggestions made during the discussion in the final version of the report.

The SC also reviewed the project's Fourth Quarterly Report, which was provisionally accepted. However, due to the number of comments provided, it was decided that a revised version would be sent electronically to SC members after the meeting for formal approval.

It was further decided that the next SC meeting will be held in January 2025 to promptly review newly submitted project materials and decisions.

The main objective of the EU funded project “EU for Vocational Education and Recognition of Skills in BiH” is to increase employability and make the educational institutions more relevant to the needs of the labour market and, ultimately, the economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The primary focus of the project is to strengthen VET and establish the system of verification of skills in BiH in order to enhance the prospects for employment of students and skills holders. This provide opportunities for young people to successfully enter the job market while at the same time increasing the quality of the VET system reflecting the EU's requirements, the existing current developments, including digitalisation.
